We have partnered with several schools to provide science kits. There are new products for Johns Hopkins' CTY and Alpha Omega Academy. If you need kits for Johns Hopkins's CTY, Alpha Omega Academy, Western Christian Academy, or Southeast Academy, please see the links under the products section. Please call us if you need to order a kit for an unlisted school. READ MORE

Description

We have designed the Advanced MicroChem Kit to be a serious first year college / high school AP level chemistry lab curriculum. We reviewed the College Board's® recommendations and included the labs they suggested then added a few more for a total of 30 experiments. This chemistry lab course is based on the Microscale method, which uses about 1/100th of the chemicals a typical lab would consume. The chemical reagents are supplied in dropper bottles that are ready-to-go and do not require any mixing or further preparation. For added safety, there are no concentrated acids or bases in the kit.

The Advanced MicroChem Kit includes two books. First, a 148 page manual which explains each experiment covering the following:
- Goals:
The goals section outlines the major learning areas of the experiment.
- Background
The background would be equivalent to a short lecture on the theory of the experiment.
- Materials and Equipment
Get the equipment out of the kit and you are good to go. Any items not included in the kit like ice, sugar, hot water, etc. are also mentioned in this area, as well as at the beginning of each experiment.
- Procedure
This is the detailed step-by-step procedure to do the experiment. Instructions are clearly explained making it easy for students, homeschool parents, and teachers/instructors.

Secondly, we included a Lab Workbook, similar to lab notebooks used in most colleges. This becomes a lasting record of each students laboratory work. The student takes notes, fills out tables, calculates results, answers questions, and formulates conclusions in the Lab Workbook.

Our goal is to make each student's lab experience as close as possible to a well-equipped college laboratory without costing thousands of dollars.  Use with adult supervision. Ages 14 & up.

The Advanced MicroChem Kit is intended as a full year of AP level experiments and includes the following:

1. Empirical Formula
2. Analysis of Hydrates
3. Molar Mass by Titration
